Nadim joined Katapult in 2016 as a Senior Backend Engineer, bringing not only immense technical expertise as an individual contributor, but a “coaching” style that allows the team to grow and improve under his leadership. Nadim views people as a reservoir of talent to be developed and is constantly seeking to unlock people's true potential. He opens his hearts and doors for people. Through team sessions, lunch-and-learns, face-to-face meetings and 1:1s, Nadim is always looking to make genuine connections with his team, better understand each team member, their goals, motivations, interests and challenges and is constantly adjusting and tuning to make sure there is alignment and a successful outcome for everyone involved.
Upon joining Katapult as a Senior Backend Engineer in 2016, he was tasked with tackling the most challenging problems in the way of the Katapult’s growth. We needed to scale not just the technology platform, but the teams and processes. Through his perseverance, diligence, and intellect, he was able to transform our technology platform as well as create a culture of growth, hard work, creativity, innovation, and passionate collaboration. His calm demeanor earned him the nickname of Nadimanchu – a Zen master, along with a custom slack emoji. His ability to stay calm under pressure and lead his teams through difficult challenges earned him a promotion to Engineering Manager in 2018 and then as a Director of Engineering in 2019.
Nadim challenges, inspires, and pushes his team. Due to the remote nature of our teams and to promote a culture of growth, transparency, collaboration, inclusion and belonging, he started several initiatives like:
• Koffee and Kookies - to allow for different teams to engage with each other and do knowledge transfer sessions and promote cross-teams collaboration
• Kreative Katapults – a platform where team members are encouraged to work on innovative tech projects and present to entire department which promotes innovation, growth and skill development
• Leadership townhalls – to foster open and honest communication that allows team members to share their thoughts, ideas, concerns, or grievances surrounding any topic without fear of retribution
• Tech Happy Hour – where team members play music, dance, and play fun games
• Opportunity Korner – to create cross-team and cross department opportunities, offer training to inspire new thoughts and approaches.
• Katapult Buddy – a program to help new hires pair up with team members that help with orientation, onboarding, and knowledge transfer.
Nadim is one of the few smart technologists that has a deep understanding of both technology and business landscape. His approach to innovation is driven by business strategy, capability, market understanding and commitment to his team and process. He can clearly articulate a vision of developing products and solving complex business problems. Nadim has a unique ability to succinctly communicate a complex issue in a simple and easy way for everyone to understand.
Nadim has been instrumental in successfully in building a team of passionate, smart and creative people that are quick thinkers, that are always looking to learn and develop their skills, that are not afraid to take risks and love working collaboratively with teams, clients and partners to solve challenging problems - big or small.
